Merchandise worth thousands taken from Burberry at Oak Brook Center Mall mid-day
OAK BROOK, Ill. - Oak Brook officials are reporting the Burberry store located in the Oak Brook Center Mall was robbed today in the mid-day hours and the thieves made out with thousands in merchandise.
The incident happened at approximately 11:27 a.m., at the high-end Burberry retail store located at 208 Oakbrook Center.
Officials said that three males in their early-20s entered the Burberry store and stole over $23,000.00 in merchandise. Witnesses said the trio fled the scene in a black BMW with tinted windows.
The situation remains an active investigation. Officials did note this incident was not a robbery but rather a retail theft.
This theft comes after the Burberry store on Chicago's Magnificent Mile was hit twice in 3 days last week. As a result, the Michigan Avenue store posted parked vehicles outside to deter the thefts.
