Air & Water & Gun Show Weekend Violence Wrap-Up

The weather this weekend not only dampered the Air & Water Show spectacle on the lakefront, it cooled the rage down on the streets. We were fortunate because the weekend violence kicked off Friday with more speed than an F/A-18 Super Hornet off a carrier launch pad.

The final statistics for Friday @ noon through Monday @ 6:00 a.m. were 4 killed, 36 wounded across the city.

As usual, while we have no affiliation, all crime stats used by the Chicago Journal can be found at HeyJackass.com.

As we mentioned up top, Friday night's violence had everyone anticipating some very large numbers for the rest of the weekend.

By dawn on Saturday morning there had been 22 people shot, including two separate mass shooting incidents in which 5 people were wounded in each incident.

That type of start usually doesn't bode well for the remainder but, again, we were fortunate to be blessed with some heavy rains and unseasonably cool temperatures for a mid-August weekend.

Still, there were more stories to tell.

Also early Saturday morning, a man armed with a double barrel shotgun shot two people during a robbery spree in Rogers Park. Read more at CWBChicago.

Also, a man was arrested after he allegedly sexually abused a 6-year-old boy in the old Rock 'N Roll McDonald's.

There were two six-year-old's shot last week. The second happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening in the Englewood neighborhood.

As we also mentioned in that update, that second six-year-old was the 12th child aged 16-and-under to have been shot last week.

Later that night, around 11:45 p.m. on the 600 block of W. 89th Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed. About 45 minutes later, on the 4700 block of S. Union, a 21-year-old male was shot multiple times with over 40 shell casings found on scene.

But it's not just shootings that are violent, though the following incident doesn't count toward the final statistics.

But sorry for the interruption, Mr. Lincoln Park man.
