20-year-old woman shot while driving last Friday dies

Update: The woman has been identified by the Medical Examiner as Desiree Falls, 20, of the 2100 block of S. Millard Ave. in Chicago.

CHICAGO - A 20-year-old woman who was shot in the head while driving in the Fifth City/Garfield Park neighborhood last Friday succumbed to her injuries last night.

Authorities said that approximately 11:37 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, a 20-year-old female was driving alone in the 300 block of S. Homan when she was shot in the head by an unknown offender.

The girl was not known to be affiliated with any gang activities and it is unknown why/if she was targeted.

The girl was initially reported in critical condition and transported by the Chicago Fire Department to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Sadly, the victim succumbed to her injuries last night.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives are now conducting a death investigation.
