CHICAGO - A teenage girl is in critical condition this morning and police are reporting she was shot by two unknown men on the city's south side.



The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. in the 1700 block of S. Wentworth in the South Loop neighborhood on the city's Near South Side. The location is reportedly at the Ping Tom Memorial Park which runs along the south branch of the Chicago river.

Police said a 17-year-old female victim was approached by two unknown males. One of the men pulled out a handgun and began firing shots at her.

The girl was shot in the right side of the neck and was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Police have no one in custody, Area one detectives are investigating.
