Woman robbed on Prairie

A woman was walking near the 1900 block of S. Prairie Dec. 30 at 5:50 p.m. when three men approached. One of the men put a gun to her head and said, “Give me all your money b— or I’m going to kill you.” The man then punched the woman in the face and stomach. Another man took her wallet and keys from her coat. The offenders fled south toward Cullerton. Police were called. Officers arrived and toured the area, but did not locate the offenders. They recovered the woman’s wallet, which was missing $80.
New Year, wrong foot
Police assigned to patrol a hotel located in the 700 block of S. Michigan during New Year’s Eve festivities noticed, on Jan. 1 at 12:30 a.m., a man pouring liquid over a wall onto a stairwell full of people. Police approached the man for a field interview. The offender, who appeared highly intoxicated, started yelling profanities at the officers. The offender then pushed one of the officers in the face and chest, causing him to fall backwards. Hotel security secured the offender. He was arrested and transported to the 1st District police station.
Tenders nabbed from stadium
Two men entered a restricted area at a major sports venue in the 1400 block of S. Museum Campus Dr. on Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. and proceeded to steal several bags of Lay’s chips, some plastic mugs and four bags of chicken tenders, according to a police report. They stuffed the snacks in a plastic bag and fled. Security agents witnessed the incident and apprehended and detained the men for police. Officers arrested and charged the offenders with theft.
Holiday break-in
A Chicago man went to Iowa for Christmas break and then returned to his house on the 1400 block of W. Taylor Jan 2. at 2:18 p.m. When he arrived home, he found his locked rear door had been pried opened, three bedrooms ransacked and $800 in video games and DVDs taken. Police had no suspects.
Smash and grab
A man parked his car in the 900 block of W. Fulton on Jan. 3 at 11:30 p.m. When he returned an hour later, he found his rear window broken and his GPS missing from his car.
Wash knocked over
A man was opening a car wash located on the 1000 block of W. Jackson Jan. 3 at 6:20 a.m. when he noticed the door to his manager’s office had been forced open. He notified his manager who arrived on the scene and found there was a large amount of money missing from the office. Police had no leads.
Armed purse snatching
A woman was walking on the 2100 block of S. Ashland Dec. 23 at 9:28 p.m. when a man approached and pulled out a chrome-plated handgun, pointed it at her and asked for her purse. She gave up her purse and the man fled. Police toured the area, but did not locate the criminal.
Domestic dispute
Two men got in to a fight outside their residence located in the 400 block of S. Clark Jan. 4 at 6:20 p.m. One of the men pulled a knife out of his pocket, placed it near the other man’s ribcage and said, “I’ll kill you, you crackhead.” After the altercation ended, the victim called police, who arrived and arrested the offender, charging him with aggravated assault.
No brotherly love
A man told police his brother came into his apartment in the 2300 block of S. State on Jan. 2 and asked him for some money. When he told his brother he had none, his brother pulled out a gun and said, “Give me your s—,” snatching a gold chain from his neck and taking a wallet from his pocket. The offender then fled. Police are investigating.
Man robbed near Cullerton
A man was exiting his vehicle near the 100 block of E. Cullerton Dec. 31 at 8:30 p.m. when two men approached, threw him against his vehicle and said, “Give me your coat.” The victim complied and also gave the men his ring, watch, wallet, $140 and his car keys. The men fled and were not located by police.
