Yankees fan delivers a big hit

Two men were drinking beer on the 100 block of W. Van Buren Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. when a man in a New York Yankees jacket approached and asked them for drugs. The men said they didn’t have any and started walking away when the man in the jacket punched one of the other men in the right side of his head. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. The offender had fled and was not located.
Woman robbed on Dearborn
A woman was walking near the 100 block of N. Dearborn Dec. 21 at 8:40 p.m. when a man approached her, pointed a silver handgun with a wooden handle at her and said, “B— give me your money.” The offender went through the woman’s pockets and took $38 and various credit cards and fled. Police did not locate the offender.
Man robs store with air gun
A man entered a convenience store near the 100 block of N. Michigan Dec. 19 at 4:51 a.m. and aimed an air gun at the store clerk while stealing $222 worth of cigarettes and $207 cash from the register. Police driving by saw the offender drop the gun as he left the store. The officers gave chase and caught up to the offender. They performed an emergency take down and handcuffed the man, and then transported him to the 1st District police station.
Spitter arrested
Two men got in a fight over bus fare in the 100 block of E. Balbo Dec. 21 at 9:01 p.m., when one of the men spit in the other man’s face. The victim flagged down police who arrested the spitter and transported the offender to the 1st District police station, where he was charged with battery.
Crack dealer arrested
Police received a call about potential narcotics activity in an apartment building in the 600 block of S. Wabash Dec. 19 at 9:10 p.m. They went to the apartment where the suspected drug activity was occurring and knocked on the door. A man answered and said, “What you need?” While the door was open, the officers saw a black plate filled with what appeared to be cut-up crack cocaine, a razor blade and two clear plastic baggies containing more suspected crack. Police arrested the man and transported him to the 1st District police station.
What happened to patience?
A woman was using a bathroom in a restaurant in the 100 block of S. Wabash Dec. 21 at 3:45 p.m. when another woman yelled through the door asking if she could hurry up so she could wash her hands. The woman in the bathroom refused, and the other woman entered and splashed water from the sink onto the first woman. A fight ensued, and restaurant security tried to intervene. But the splasher fled west on Adams. Police toured the area, but could not locate her. The victim suffered scratches on her hands and forehead, but refused medical treatment.
Shots fired near Van Buren
Two men began pushing and shoving each other near the 100 block W. Van Buren Dec. 20 at 3:51 a.m. Then one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired several shots. Police nearby heard the shots and arrived on the scene. A witness told police he saw more shots coming from a gray minivan which fled south on Wells. Police followed a van matching that description on to the Kennedy Expressway. They turned their sirens on and pulled the van over. The men in the vehicle were asked to come out of the car and police conducted a search. They found a holster and a live and spent round of ammunition on the floor of the car. Both men denied any involvement with the shooting near Van Buren. Another police unit recovered a gun nearby on an entrance ramp to the freeway, and security footage showed the gun being tossed from the minivan. A check showed the gun was stolen from Los Angeles on May 22, 2005. Police transported the men to the 1st District.
