A reminder outside of Dett School.

Around 7:30 this morning, Annetter White stood outside of Dett School, 2306 W. Maypole, a polling place on the Near West Side, ready with political literature from Eddie Winters' campaign for the 10th district house seat.
Only a few voters had arrived to cast their ballots in today's primary, which features a series of hotly contested campaigns on both the Democratic and Republican side.
"Hopefully it will be a big turnout," White said as the snow trickled down.
"I talked to a lot of people," she went on to say. "They said they're on their way."
Rholunda DeMar was one of the early morning voters at Dett. She said she wanted get her voting done prior to going to work. The Democratic race for president of the Cook County Board of Commissioners brought her out.
"The tax thing - I think that's kind of important to me," she said, referring to the sales tax increase, now partially rolled back, supported by incumbent board president Todd Stroger. DeMar voted for Ald. Toni Preckwinkle instead.
"At this point there's no scandal associated with her," she said.
Bob Morton soon arrived with bundles of literature from the 5th District Democratic Organization, the head of which is State Sen. Rickey Hendon, a candidate in this primary for lieutenant governor.
Morton, who said he was a volunteer for Hendon, will be visiting different polling locations throughout the day.
"There's a thousand precinct captains out there," he said. "Everybody needs something."
Over at the Salvation Army in the West Loop, at 1 N. Ogden, Sherri Bedster voted for Adam Andrzejewski for governor in the Republican primary.
"It's almost a lost cause voting as a conservative here but I'm going to give it a stab," she said.
West Loop resident Jeff Wuczynski was motivated to get out to the polls by the race for Cook County board president.
"I voted to vote against Todd Stroger," he said. Terrence O'Brien was his choice for that seat.
